Meredith Divita interviews Jake Shields about his UFC 129 fight against Georges St.Pierre

UFC welterweight fighter sat down with Meredith DiVita of KNOXX Gear recently to promote is upcoming fight.

Shields will be challenging UFC welterweight champion, Georges St.Pierre (GSP) for the title on April 30 at the Rogers Centre in Toronto. The show will be shown live on pay-per-view.

In the under four-minute video, the San Francisco-based fighter says, "I'm not going out there to give Georges a good fight. I"m going out there to bring the belt home."

Shields said he was surprised to hear that Strikeforce was bought by the UFC and that he thinks wrestling is the best base for a young fighter because wrestling is harder to learn when you get older.

One of the more interesting questions that was asked by DiVita was when she asked Shields if he would fight his teammate from the Cesar Gracie camp, Nick Diaz.

Shields didn't give a definitive "no" to that question which surprised me. Shields said "It's not like I"m saying I won't fight him but I'd prefer to try to find another solution."

He said he isn't going to worry about that situation right now, and that he or Diaz could move up and down a weight class just like they did when both were with Strikeforce.

If Shields shockingly upsets GSP on April 30, and Diaz has no challengers left in Strikeforce, UFC President Dana White could be asking these two fighters to get it on in the Octagon in the near future.
