MMA Fighters Predict Winner of GSP Vs. BJ Penn Fight

D Wizzle asked some of the top MMA fighters in the world and MMA personalities to predict the winner of the main event at UFC 94 between GSP and BJ Penn. Here are their predictions.

Jake Shields, EliteXC Welterweight Champion:

I think it will be a great fight with GSP taking it in the later rounds.

"The Fight Professor" Stephen Quadros, http://StephenQuadros.com/blog:

I have been wrestling for sometime on who will win between Georges St. Pierre and BJ Penn. This is such a hard match to pick for me. As anyone who knows me is aware, I never pick who I 'hope' will win. Like many, I am a fan of both fighters so I can speak with a certain amount of objectivity here.

At the moment I am leaning towards Georges. He has impressed me in how he grows and learns from hard lessons and becomes stronger from negative experiences that would have caused others to fade or decline. Penn is without a doubt one of the greatest the sports has ever seen and has a great chance of winning, but my gut says GSP.

Mike "Quick" Swick, UFC Welterweight Fighter:

It's going to be a good fight. It's going to come down to whoever shows up more focused and determined and in shape. If BJ comes in in good shape, then it could be big trouble for GSP.

Anthony "Rumble" Johnson, UFC Welterweight Fighter:

I don't know who will win but I know whoever trained the hardest and came prepared the best will win.

Ali Sonoma, Former UFC Octagon Girl:

My prediction is BJ Penn with a second round submission. I'm so excited about the fight this weekend! I'm going to Lake Tahoe to watch with Diego (UFC fighter Diego Sanchez) and his team. It'll be cool... it's one of the few times I see him during camp so I'm happy.

Mike Brown, WEC Featherweight Champion:

GSP by close decision but Penn wins round one and three. GSP by superior conditioning.

Josh "The Punk" Thomson, Strikeforce Lightweight Champion:

BJ Penn for the first three rounds and then GSP's weight plays a factor on BJ's cardio. I think BJ as a good chance to put him away in the first three rounds though.

David Bielkheden, UFC Welterweight Fighter:

My prediction is GSP by ground and pound in round four.
I think BJ is a better fighter and more technical than Georges, but then again I think that Georges is a better athlete than BJ,and I think Georges is gonna be to strong for BJ at 170 pounds. If they fought at 155 pounds, I would have put all my money on BJ!

Keith "KO Kid" Berry, KOTC Middleweight Champion:

Yea man, I'm going to have to say GSP by TKO 3rd round. I just think his skills are on another level and he will just outclass BJ.

Elaina "Beef" Maxwell, Strikeforce fighter:

This is a tough fight to call because both of these fighters are phenoms. BJ Penn has been gifted with unbelievable talent and GSP's athleticism is unreal, so I really just want to see a great fight. May the best man win. However, I do have to say that my prediction is that it'll end in a sub.

Nicole Craner, Pro Battle MMA Ring Girl:

I am going to go with my boy, BJ Penn!!! I used to live in Hawaii and went to his gym and some Rumble on the Rock shows. He is religious about training, self-disciplined, and down right humble...love him! I'm going to say BJ Penn, third round submission!

D Wizzle, D Wizzle's World:

GSP by decision just like their first fight. This will be a five-round war and GSP wins by split decision.

Dallas Cowboys TE Martellus Bennett Apology Rap

Here is a rap freestyle from Martellus Bennett aka Marty B apologizing to anyone who was offended by a rap song he did a few days ago. As far as D Wizzle's World is concerned, Marty B did nothing wrong and the only ones offended are the haters and racists. Do your thing Marty B, don't let the haters get to ya.

Hottie of the Week: UFC Octagon Girl Logan Stanton

The new Hottie of the Week is Logan Stanton. Logan is a model and the newest UFC Octagon Girl. This 20-year-old hottie is from Florida and is 5'10.

UFC fans have wanted to know more about Logan ever since she made her debut at UFC 92 last month. D Wizzle talked to this statuesque beauty after she came back from Dublin, Ireland for UFC 93.
Hi Logan, how are you doing today? Congratulations on being the newest UFC Octagon Girl!

Hey D! I'm doing great. Thank you!

How did you get to be the newest Octagon Girl for the UFC?

It was very unexpected actually. Abbey, my booker, called me and asked if I had ever heard of something called the "UFC." I was a little confused why they wanted to see me, but I was curious so I flew out to Vegas to meet with Dana (UFC President Dana White) and Craig (UFC Executive VP of Operations and Production, Craig Borsari) and they explained to me that they wanted me to be the new Octagon Girl for the UFC. I was shocked because I'm clearly not your typical looking ring girl and I think everyone knows what I mean by that (laughs). Regardless, I was flattered and jumped on the opportunity right away.

What were you doing before you started working for the UFC?

Before this, I was modeling. I've only been modeling for about a year now, and have been back and forth between Miami and LA.

Were you a MMA fan before joining the UFC?

I was definitely a fan. I wouldn't say a huge fan, because I don't know all of the fighters by name or anything, but I've been meeting up with friends at for a few years now to watch the fights.

Do you have a favorite UFC fighter?

Like I said, I don't know many of the fighters that well, so I don't have an absolute favorite yet.

How was it like to sit at cageside and watch the fights up close for the first time?

Sitting ringside was amazing! My first fight was something that I will never forget. The energy in the arena was unbelievable and it was by far one of the best experiences I've ever had.

Did you enjoy UFC 93 in Ireland?

Yes, I had a lot of fun during the pre-fights too. The fans were going crazy over their Irish fighters.

How was the trip to Ireland?

I'm not a fan of the cold, so besides the depressing weather, I had a lot of fun in Ireland.

The UFC is going to be in Tampa for the February 7 Ultimate Fight Night event as well. You must be excited about that since it will be in Florida.

I'm really looking forward to the fights in Tampa since it's only a few hours from Miami and I have a lot of friends who will be there.

After you made your debut at UFC 92, have you gotten noticed and recognized a lot when you go out?

I've only been noticed in the cities where the fights are held really. Once the robe comes off, I'm nothing special... I'm just me!

Where are you from and what city do you currently reside in now?

I'm originally from a small town in Florida called Niceville. I'm not even kidding! At the moment, I'm living in Miami, but I'm going to be moving out to LA next month. Although I love to travel, I'm not a big fan of this whole "living out of a suitcase" lifestyle, so I'm really looking forward to settling down somewhere for awhile.

Do you have any favorite sports teams and players?

I've always been a big baseball fan. My favorite team is the Boston Red Sox and my favorite player is David Ortiz. Big Papi!

What do you like to do in your free time?

It depends. If the sun's out, I need to be outdoors. Whether I'm at the beach or kayaking, it doesn't really matter as long as I'm out of the house. If it's cloudy or raining, then I love curling up in bed all day and watching movies or reading.

Thanks for taking the time to talk to me Logan and letting the fans get to know more about you. We look forward to seeing you at all the UFC events.

You're welcome, and I just want to say thank you for all of the support I've received from everyone these past few weeks. I really appreciate it.

Hottie of the Week: Anastasia

D Wizzle's World is finally back with a new Hottie of the Week. Her name is Anastasia and she is from California.  This 5'3 hottie  has been a model for over eight years and she also has been a ring girl.

I am from Sacramento and I am a huge 49ers fan.

I am Venezuelan, Sicilian, and Blackfoot Indian.

My favorite UFC fighter is Chuck Liddell. I love watching him fight.

I love snowboarding in the winter and in the summertime, I try to barbecue and kick back as many Coronas as a girl my size can handle!

I love watching martial arts films. My favorite is Jet Li. He is one of my favorite actors.

The tattoo on my lower stomach is actually two different tattoos that I ended up combining later with three roses. The three roses are  for three different people in my life that I lost within the same year. They are my older brother, my cousin, and a good friend of mine. They are all in a better place though!

The tat took about three hours all together. It wasn't as painful as my other tats but it definitely had its moments!

UFC 93 Live Blog and Results

Marcus Davis defeated Chris Lytle by split decision after three rounds. The fight was ok but not a "Fight of the Year" candidate at all as some people said it would be.

It was a stand-up fight. People thought that Davis vs. Swick would be a great fight too but it was not.

Now it is Denis Kang vs. Alan Belcher. Kang wins the first round and almost finished the fight with a kimura.

Wow, Belcher wins by guillotine after Kang shot for a takedown and Belcher pulled guard and caught him in the guillotine.

Kang was winning the fight and Belcher pulled the huge upset with the submission win. Belcher didn't have much offense at all until he pulled off the guillotine.

Kang took down Belcher about three or four times in the fight.

I am waiting for the Coleman/Rua fight. If Coleman loses, UFC commentator Joe Rogan probably will tell us that Coleman should retire. Rogan loves to say that after a fighter over 30 loses a fight.

Up next is Jeremy Horn vs Rouismar Palhares. I like Horns' entrance music.

Palhares dominated Horn in round 1. Probably a 10-8 round. Horn did a good job just making it out of the first round.

This fight should be over soon. This is just so one-sided. Palhares is just too strong for Horn.

Horn finally showed some offense and actually had full mount on Palhares and attempted an arm triangle. Horn is a warrior.

We are going to the third round now. Both fighters are gassed.

Edith, the busty UFC ring girl, is back so there are three ring girls in Ireland tonight.

The fight is over and Palhares will win by unanimous decision 30-27.

The UFC is now showing a prelim fight that happened earlier between Tom Egan and John Hathaway. Hathaway won impressively by TKO in the first round.

Egan is from Ireland and the crowd was cheering for him loudly.

Mark Coleman vs. Shogun Rua is next!

Coleman survives until the third round when he gasses and gets KO.

The main event ended with Dan Henderson getting a controversial split decision win over Rich Franklin. One of the judges had Franklin winning the fight 30-27.

UFC 93 Picks

Rich Franklin by split decision

Palhares by armbar in third round

49ers Should Hire Rod Chudzinski As Their Offensive Coordinator

The San Francisco 49ers should hire Rod Chudzinski as their new offensive coordinator. Chudzinski was previously the offensive coordinator with the Cleveland Browns for the last two years until Romeo Crennel got fired after this season.

Chudzinski would be a better hire over the other candidates interviewed by Mike Singletary because he has had success as a coordinator before, and he is also only 40 years old. Chudzinski probably would stay with the 49ers for a few years before ever thinking of leaving for a head coach position.

Although the Browns had a terrible season offensively this year, it was not entirely Chudzinski’s fault. The Browns were beset by injuries to their starting and back-up quarterback as well as their tight end.

I don’t think any offensive coordinator could have helped the Browns’ offense this year. Chudzinski had to work with Ken Dorsey as his starting quarterback for the last four games of the season. Dorsey, who was a star for the Miami Hurricanes and a former 49er, is no better than a third-string quarterback in the NFL.

It was not Chudzinski’s fault that WR Braylon Edwards kept on dropping wide-open passes or that Derek Anderson was so inaccurate with his throws. Anderson had problems throwing to wide-open teammates and often completed less than half his passes.

TE Kellen Winslow performed very well with Chudzinski calling the plays the last two seasons. I am sure Vernon Davis saw the numbers Winslow put up under Chudzinski and salivated about what he could do with Chudzinski as the new offensive coordinator.
Fran k Gore is already familiar with Chudzinski since Chudzinski was coaching him when Gore was at the University of Miami. Chudzinski knows what Gore can do and would give him many opportunities with the ball.

Chudzinski would love coaching Shaun Hill after having to deal with the inaccurate Anderson for the past two years. Anderson has a very strong arm, unlike Hill, but his passes often were too high or too low for his receivers. Hill would be a breath of fresh air for Chudzinski.

Hill takes care of the ball unlike Anderson, and can also scramble when necessary.
As for the receivers, Isaac Bruce and Jason Hill won’t drop the ball as much as Edwards did for the Browns. And I already mentioned Davis who would have more plays called for him under Chudzinski than he did over the first three years of his career.

It is imperative that the 49ers make the right hire and Chudzinski is definitely the right man for the job.

NBA Tuesday Recap: Kobe Is Clutch And Orlando Sets NBA Record

There were seven games last night and five of the games were won by the road team.

The best game of the night was in Houston where the Lakers defeated the Rockets 105-100.

Shane Battier hit a three-pointer to give the Rockets a 100-99 lead but Kobe Bryant matched Battier's three with one of his own to give the Lakers a 102-100 lead.

Rafer Alston got fouled with about nine seconds left in the game but he missed both free throws. Pau Gasol made one of two free throws to give the Lakers a three-point lead with seven seconds left.

Yao Ming made a bonehead mistake and took a two-point shot instead of passing it to a wide open Aaron Brooks on the left corner for an open three-pointer. Ming missed the shot and the game was basically over after that.

Ming must have thought it was a two-point game.

Von Wafer, starting in place of Tracy McGrady, had 23 points. Carl Landry helped out with 21 points for the Rockets.

Kobe was the hero for the Lakers with his clutch shooting throughout the second half and finished with 33 points on 13-32 shooting.

In Minnesota, the Heat came from behind to beat the Timberwolves 99-96. Minnesota was leading for most of the game. The key to the game was the final quarter where the Heat outscored Minnesota 26-20.

Dwyane Wade had 31 points to lead the Heat Randy Foye continued to stay hot with 29 points on 12-21 shooting. Foye made five three-pointers as well.

Al Jefferson only had nine points on 4-14 shooting and was a non-factor in the game.

The game was tied at 91 when Wade took a wild shot and missed. Kevin Love got the rebound and tried to throw a long outlet pass to Rodney Carney but it was intercepted by Michael Beasley.

Beasley passed the ball to Marion who threw it up for Wade for a dunk to give the Heat a two-point lead. Foye hit a three to give his team a  96-95 lead but that would be the last time Minnesota would score.

Shawn Marion got to the foul line and made both free thows to give the Heat the lead for good. Marion was fouled on a dunk attempt after a great pass from Wade.

Carney missed a three-pointer that would have tied the game before the  final buzzer sounded.

Orlando clobbered the Kings at Arco Arena 139-107. Orlando made 23 three-pointers to set an NBA record.

The Kings were led by Kevin Martin's 30 points. Dwight Howard had 25 points and 15 rebounds for Orlando.

Raymond Felton was the hero for Charlotte as they upset the Pistons 80-78 in Detroit.

Charlotte outscored the Pistons 18-10 in the fourth quarter.

Felton had 23 points and nine assists and hit the game-winning jumper with 0.7 seconds left.  Felton was 5-5 in the fourth quarter and two of his shots were three-pointers.

The Bobcats went on a 13-2 run to end the game. Emeka Okafor played good defense on Rasheed Wallace in the final minute of the game.

Wallace was called for an offensive foul with the game tied at 78. This gave the Bobcats the chance to win the game and Felton's jumper over Rodney Stuckey sealed the deal.

LeBron James had  a triple-double with 30 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists as the Cavs defeated the Grizzlies in Memphis 102-87.

O.J. Mayo only had six points for Memphis.

Dirk Nowitzki had 44 points but that was not enough as the Nuggets beat the Mavs 99-97 in Denver.

Chauncey Billups hit two free throws with two seconds left in the game to give Denver the win.

Jason Kidd struggled with only two points on 1-9 shooting.

The Suns beat the Hawks 107-102 at home. Shaq had 26 points to lead the Suns and Josh Smith ahd 24 for the Hawks.

Joe Johnson struggled with only 11 points on 4-21 shooting.

The Hawks were undermanned without Al Horford who is out with a knee injury.

NBA Monday Recap: Boston Almost Loses Again and Knicks Upset Hornets

The biggest upset of the night was when the Knicks beat the Hornets 101-95 in New Orleans.

The Knicks were led by David Lee's 24 points but it was Al Harrington who sealed the victory with a clutch three-pointer with under 30 seconds to go in the final quarter. Harrington was 1-7 from long range before he hit the three-pointer to give the Knicks a six point lead which they would not surrender.

Peja Stojakovic struggled and was only 3-12 for New Orleans.

Boston barely defeated the Raptors at home 115-109 in overtime. The Raptors were leading 54-45 at halftime.

Paul Pierce led the comeback with 39 points and Kevin Garnett had 20 points.

Roko Ukic, the Croatian point guard for the Raptors, had a career game with 16 points on 7-12 shooting.
New Jersey also had to go to overtime to beat the Thunder 103-99. Brook Lopez had 31 points for the Nets.

Devin Harris returned from injury for the Nets but he was only 7-22 from the field.

The Bucks took down the Wizards 97-91 and were led by Michael Redd's 29 points.

Nick Young of the Wizards had a great game and scored 30 points in 31 minutes. Young would often do a crossover dribble and then rise up for a mid-range jumper to get his points. He should get more playing time since the Wizards need offense and Young is a scorer.

Caron Butler struggled and was only 2-13 from the field.

The Wizards had a 11 point lead at halftime but the Bucks clamped down on defense and held the Wizards to 39 points in the second half.

Mehmet Okur had 43 points for the Jazz in their 120-113 victory over the Pacers.

Danny Granger was the leading scorer for the Pacers once again with 30 points.

The Pacers have shown that they can score with any team in the league but that they are also the worst defensive team in the league as well.

Portland once again beat the Bulls by double digits. Travis Outlaw had 33 points in the Blazers' 109-95 victory in Chicago.

Portland defeated Chicago by 42 in their first game in Portland.

Kirk Hinrich returned from injury for the Bulls.

NBA Monday Preview

There are six games tonight but there are no marquee games to watch.

Portland travels to Chicago to take on the Bulls. The Bulls will be seeking revenge as they lost by 42 points to Portland in a game in November. This will be the first game of a four game road trip for the Blazers.

They will also face the 76ers, Nets, and Bobcats on the road trip. The Bulls will go on a short road trip after this game. Tonight's game will be the last game of a five-game homestand.

The Pacers will take on the Jazz tonight in Utah to close out their five-game road trip. The Pacers only have won one game on this Western road swing. They lost last night to the Warriors in Oakland 120-117. Danny Granger had 42 points in the loss.

The Pacers offense got a boost with Mike Dunleavy returning on this road trip. He will help out with his shooting, scoring, and passing abilities.

The Jazz will be on the road the rest of the week after tonight's home game. They have won all three of their games on this homestand.

The Knicks end their four game road trip tonight in New Orleans. After upsetting Boston at home, the Knicks have not won a game since. They have scored less than 100 points in their last three games.

The Hornets are only a half game behind the Spurs in the Southwest Division.

Toronto and Boston finish off their home and home series tonight in Boston. The Celtics stopped their losing streak yesterday afternoon by defeating the Raptors 94-88 in Toronto. Ray Allen had 36 points in the victory for the Celtics.

The Celtics are 18-2 at home.

The Bucks head to the nation's capital tonight to take on the Wizards. The Wizards are one of the worst teams in the NBA with a 7-29 record.

The Bucks are coming off a tough two point defeat to the Timberwolves and the Wizards have lost four straight since upsetting the Cavs at home.

New Jersey will try to get back to the .500 mark tonight when they host the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Thunder are only 2-16 on the road but they did defeat the Bulls in Chicago in their last game.

The Nets are only 8-12 at home.

1-1-1 yesterday as we pushed on the NBA total and split on the other two plays. New Year's Day Picks 33-27 Record

Check back throughout the day for possibly more picks

Clemson/Nebraska over 55   This game will be a shootout in Jacksonville.  Clemson has a good defense statistically but they played in the ACC where Nebraska QB Joe Ganz would have been the best QB they seen all year.

Clemson has offensive weapons  with their two good RBs and three solid WRs. Look for both Cullen Harper and Ganz to have big games at QB.

Nebraska has a good front four but they won't be able to stop James Davis and C.J. Spiller all game.

Look for a big return or two by each team on special teams as well. Both teams also have solid kickers.

Clemson played the likes of Boston College, South Carolina, and Georgia Tech this year and this boosted their stats on defense.  None of them are offensive juggernauts like Nebraska is.

Clemson also has problems getting to the QB and that will be a problem today as well.
